Friend Robin 2017

robin

Here are my new friend robins, Hoppy and Hoppily. Hoppy (the male) was easy to tame, but his mate took a lot longer to come around, and for a while I had to keep my face turned away from her to get her to eat from my hand. Hoppy is rather trusting now, and was happy to eat from my nephew's hand, also Hoppy tends to atttack anyone emerging from the house as he immediately assumes it's me with my worm box. Hoppily is very cheeky and will usually try to get worms out of the box rather than from me if she can.

Their first brood has fledged, although they are not like the baby Tubbies were; they are more quiet and tend to stay hidden. I have reason to believe there may be more on the way. You know, just cos you feed their babies, they think you wanna know their whole private life. The sparrows were the same when we still had them all those years ago.

Why pay £15 for a rainguard, when you can buy a mixing bowl in Wilko for 50p?

Here is a woodpigeon that's been hanging around our garden for the last week. Poor thing's primaries are missing and I feel like it's only a matter of time before it gets caught 🙁
