Censorship, ClassicPress and Incomplete Projects

I'm getting there. I've carried over almost everything worth carrying over. It's been a long journey, but I think it was worth it. Why didn't I just import my WP backup, I hear you ask? Because as I said, my old blog was a hot mess. I had a lot of pointless posts left over from my Sims fansite days. My KI Rabid Fangirl days can be really annoying even to me. Many entries needed cleaning up and updating. I got lazy with my <p> tags from about 2013 onwards. The amount of tags I used was crazy stupid. Plus with all my images being hosted either on WP itself, or even worse, Photobucket, I wanted to get all my images in the one place and in a portable format, because I don't want to be on Blogger forever. Like I said, Blogger is an inferior platform compared to WP at its best.

One thing I will say in WP.com's defence is that they never censored me. I'm pretty sure that back in my Torrent Queen days, T$R made at least one attempt to get my blog closed. Blogger has banned my post on why I no longer use Scamazon. Why? Because apparently it broke their Community Guidelines. Which one? I don't know. I'm baffled as to which part set off their filter, because even after I removed the last paragraph completely (the T word there was the only thing I could think of that might be problematic), it still said, "NOPE! You ain't posting this!". I doubt g00gle is thick as thieves with Scamazon, so I genuinely don't even know what the issue is. I looked through their rules and nothing apart from the T word seems problematic, so who the heck knows.

But it does mean that I can't post freely here like I could on WP, and damn you, WP, this is why I'm so frustrated with you these days! You had the perfect platform, and you had to ruin it with your dumb block crap. Actually I had one post up before I learnt how to disable Blocks, and the code was a hotter mess than my blog. I hate messy code. I really hate it. It's why I refuse to use WYSIWYG editors and always handcode my sites, even if it takes longer. Dammit, WordPress!

Anyway, I can't see Blogger as my permanent home, not least because it's owned by g00gle, and the censorship just confirmed that. Like I said, this time I set it up in a way that makes it easy to migrate again if I need to. If WP.com can give us a reassurance that the Classic Plugin will never be removed, I will bid a fond farewell to my beloved Dusk theme and go back. If not, ClassicPress is a thing. As soon as I get a steady job, I'm planning on getting a shared server anyway. My old host cost something like £28 a year, but they went bust in 2013.

Anyway, I got round to sorting out my Storytelling pages. It's now all hosted in the one place, instead of having half of it on the blog and half on dA. Well, the Sims ones are still on Tripod. So I read through them all again, just to see where I was at. Man, I know it's sad, but I really love Zephy! He's my favourite of all my characters. I really want to finish Prescience now. The thing is, I never actually make proper notes. Looking through chapter 1, I noticed both Ferys and Zephyr were wearing necklaces, and I couldn't remember why, but I knew that there was some significance. Did their dad give it to them? But then why didn't Clarys have one? And it took me ages to remember that they were the Seraphene communication crystals. Doi.

I still feel like I want to wrap up Jasmine's story too. I mean, there's just one chapter to go. But then I remembered that I need to rewrite the whole thing, so sorry, Jazza, you're back on the backburner. Dreamsong, though. That's one I think I can finish. I did actually start chapter 6 years ago, but I wasn't happy with it, so I definitely need to redo that. I mean no one reads my fiction anymore anyway, which is probably why I lack the motivation, but I do want to finish them for myself, just so I can say, "I did it." There's also the matter of illustrations. You may have noticed, it's been ages since I posted any digital art. I have a desk now, so I have no excuse, really.
