I felt like making some dress up dolls for Tiny.
I had to do a bit of cheating here. I mean, I could have drawn it all freehand, but you know what my skill is like and I didn’t want to be here all day. Somehow, even though I traced it, the model went from front-facing to slightly turned. Oh well. It’s nothing less than you should expect from me. Anyway, I freehand drew the hands and face. The feet came out a little too chunky. Tiny said she didn’t want toes, which was a relief as I can’t really draw them.
I traced the sketch using my lightbox to create two dollies. I forgot to fix the right hand on Daisy. Yes, that is Tip-Ex under Stephani’s foot. Actually, even the naming was a happy little accident. When choosing the skintone for Daisy, I tested out the coloured pencil on the side, thinking that that part would be cropped out… It clearly wouldn’t. So I used washi tape to cover it, and thought I might as well turn that into a name tag.
Accessories and shoes.
Dresses. I made an ancient Egyptian-style dress for Tiny, since she’s insistent she has to learn about it now as she’ll be studying it in Year 3. She’s still in Year 1. Also, she kept playing at the dolls having showers, and asking for towels. Actually, I have her list of demands. Here, have a look.
This was for the first wave.
Bonus points if you can understand them all!
Loads of hairstyles. Some of them came out kinda bad, and cutting out the ear silhouette was a little hit-or-miss. Yep, that’s Lotta’s afro there. The one above it was my attempt to draw it from memory. You see what I mean, references always make it better, why am I so lazy?
Skirts and pyjamas. Tiny kept going on about wanting night clothes.
Tops. I seem to have made a lot of summer wear. It shows how long it’s been since I worked on any of the Evalor stuff, since I couldn’t even get the colours of Clarys’s outfit right.
Trousers and shorts.
I used glitter to add some accents to the clothing. Here I made a glittery gold star on the jeans.
More glitter on some shoes.
Metallic gel pens and glitter on a skirt.
Everything got covered with sticky-backed plastic so that we could use Blutack to stick the clothes on without them always sliding around. I have now run out of sticky-backed plastic. It seems WHSmith’s no longer sells it. The one I got from the poundshop is really bad quality, it leaves a cloudiness. I didn’t realise till afterwards that I could have used the Smith’s plastic for the front, and the cheapo one for the back. Genius, right there. Anyway, what it means is no more clothes for now, so Tiny’s shopping lists will have to wait. Anyway, here are some outfits I put together.
I hope you had fun looking at my dress-up dollies! Okay, bye!
