I decided in the end to base my second shadowbox on a DallE rendering of an Altrisian forest (yes, the same as the one on my penholder).
Caerulean paint, oh my gosh. It's so unstable! Anyway, the worst part of this was definitely trying to colour the moss. It was already a dark green, but as you can see in my first shadowbox, it wasn't too much trouble to lighten the colour.
I bought some primer the last time I went to Hobbycraft, and I thought that priming it would make it easier, but it didn't.
It took several coats of paint, and many, many days of drying. And then when I did get it to a semi-decent colour, it was frickin' caerulean, of course it just wanted to dissolve in any adhesive that touched it. Why do I seem to be the only person having issues with caerulean? Like, even my printer ink is stable on photo paper... except cyan! What is it about that colour?
Anyway, I made the miniatures out of airdry clay as before.
For the background, I used the moonscape from Stellarium, a photo of Saturn, and the Flaming Pear space plugins on PSP.
Here are some close-ups.
And here it is in the dark.
