Garden Update 11/11/2021 — My Budgies’ Potatoes

I mentioned in my last garden update that these potatoes keep growing on my budgies' graves. This year's harvest turned out okay. Naturally, the spuds I actually planted didn't produce anything worth eating.

I got a nice, hefty one. This one turned into oven chips. What was nice was that this time, they actually had more flavour. There may have been more spuds there, but I didn't want to dig any further as I was already scraping under the tile I'd placed over one of the graves.

After washing, it seemed many of them were green, so that was a shame.

So here's a fun story. I say fun, I really mean creepy. A couple of years ago, I had this dream that I had a bunch of budgies in the garden (they weren't any of my IRL budgies). They were in those cages they keep budgies in in the pet shops. And I put the budgies in the microwave, and they turned into jacket potatoes. It creeps me out so much that my brain could even come up with something so disturbing. Anyway, the reason I brought this up is because, when you think about it, my budgies kind of did turn into a jacket potato, because these grew right over their graves.

I harvested a few of the peppers. In terms of taste, they were nothing special. The orange one I harvested a few years ago had a much fuller flavour. But hey, it's chocolate peppers. It's a novelty, and I'm sure those dark pigments did me some good. Anyway, that's all!
