I only found out a couple of days ago that Asda doughnuts are now vegan-friendly! It’s been literally a year — yes, over a whole year, in fact — since I ate a doughnut. It was the two Crosstown ones that I bought with the £10 that they gave us instead of the Christmas dinner. A few weeks later we shut up shop for good, and so my steady supply of dougnuts came to an end. Those doughnuts cost £4.50 each, but my gosh, they were good. I would never buy them myself, though. Sometimes we’d get the leftovers. Good times.
Anyway, Asda’s custard and jam doughnuts are vegan-friendly (although not allergy-friendly, I’m afraid). The chocolate ones contain dairy. Apparently, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons also do vegan-friendly doughnuts, although it depends on if they are made in-store, or just cooked from frozen, so do check. No more having to trek to the Co-op. My local Tesco’s doughnuts do contain dairy, which is just as well, because all that weight I lost last year has a good chance of coming back now…
I’m actually surprised that Asda has so many vegan-friendly options, because when I first went plant-based back in 2014 (I think?), it seemed they were shoving dairy in everything. Even their ketchup contained dairy.
Jammie Dodgers were accidentally vegan for a long time, then they changed their recipe to contain milk. I guess the vegans went on the warpath, because they then went vegan-friendly once more, even with the chocolate version, and made it a selling point. Fox’s Party Rings are also accidentally vegan! Most mint thins are vegan, although the orange versions aren’t always, so check. Tesco’s digestives have been vegan for a while. The Ms Molly’s brand is the nicest. Asda switched to a vegan recipe, too.
By the way, Tesco’s own-brand and Stockwell brand margarines are both vegan. You aren’t meant to use the Stockwell one for baking, as its fat content is too low, but I use it for my oat shortbread anyway, and it works fine.
I really really want one of the major supermarkets to start making vegan cinnamon swirls. I love cinnamon pastries and buns, but I hate cooking. Please do it, someone!
And a vegan Twix. I’ve not touched Twix in years. Someone please make vegan friendly Twix and Mars!

Twix is available online, and Mars and Snickers are available in supermarkets- Butterm!lk brand
Oh thank you for that! I’ve never heard of this brand!
