Keenopoly

The Chipmunk used to be mad about Commander Keen and Monopoly. So I made a Keen-themed Monopoly game, don’t sue me, Hasbro.

The Chipmunk is absolutely ruthless with Monopoly. He won’t even let me forfeit if I’m on the way to bankruptcy. He has to claw Mayfair out of my cold, dead hands. Although when he (very rarely) loses, he’ll throw a tantrum. Hm. His sister is the opposite. If I’m about to be bankrupted in Junior Monopoly, she’ll waive the rent, or give me money, while holding back the tears! It’s so cute! Poor thing.

I based the locations on the first two official trilogies and the fan-made The Universe is Toast. I replaced Community Chest with Gnosticene Council. Free Parking became Vorticon Treasury, where I used the house rule: all fines from Gnosticene Council and Ship Maintenance go there. If you land on it and it’s empty, you get another roll. Jail is replaced with Security Centre, but the rules are the same. You also get an extra 100 credits if you land on Go. I had to set a cap on bases. They’re limited to three per property.

I made the counters using photo paper and air-dry clay.

Here’s the back. I set the exposure too high, so you can’t see the detail on the planet. I used some pearl medium on it. but it doesn’t show in the pic. But I had that same problem with the caerulean paint running when I tried to seal it with varnish. There were several weeks (months even, I think) between painting it and varnishing it, so the paint definitely had cured by then. I don’t get why caerulean is so unstable for me.

Anyway, that’s all. Okay, bye!
